iPhone forgets WiFi password

Symptom: Shortly after joining my WiFi network, it reverts back to the 3G network and has “forgotten” the WiFi password I gave it.

Solution: Go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings and confirm. Rejoin your WiFi and all will be good.

Note: I have also read that some iPhones struggle if you have disabled your SSID Broadcast.

  1. Hi,

I have been having the same problem with my new iphone 4s.

It works fine at work, connects and signs into wifi on its own. However at home once it goes into sleep or once it disconnects from the router, the password must be added again, which is really quite annoying.

Using WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] at home, switched to WEP as well but that did not make a difference.

Have done the forget network twice, no avail. The SSID is on broadcast.

  2. I’ve read that before, but it doesn’t work in my case. I have WiFi at home and at work (3 of them). At work, everything works as it should. Routers and passwords are remembered and I am automatically logged in. At home, my laptop works perfectly; never loses the connection. After logging in to the router with my iPhone 4, it connects, but every time it goes into sleep mode, I have to re-enter my password to log back in. My home router and one of the work routers are identical and all settings are the same.
