When in doubt, reinstall or upgrade…
v12.0 refused to work. Upgraded to v12.5.2213A applied the SP1 and updates and ALL GOOD! It properly purged old transaction logs.

The “Info Store ONLY” works, but not if I make it part of an All Servers backup. Trying to run two jobs now consecutively. Error:

(Server: “AC4”) (Job: “Full Daily Backup of all PA servers”) Please insert overwritable media into the drive.

Overwritable media includes scratch, blank, and recyclable media. Please note that depending on the current Media Overwrite Protection setting, imported and allocated media may be overwritable as well. Consult the online help for more information on overwritable media.

Changed Media Overwrite Protection setting.

OK. The “Info Store ONLY” job purged old transaction logs. Something is wrong with the old selction list. Create a “new Full Daily backup of PA servers” selection list. Assigned it to the Full Daily Backup job.

They are piling up again. Almost 500MB each day, since the 8th. Symantec says:
“Logs: With Exchange 2000 and 2003, the transaction logs function at the storage group level. This means that all of the databases within a storage group share a common set of transaction logs. Therefore, unless you back up all the databases, transaction logs will not be deleted.”
Hmm. My Info Store has a slash in the check box, til i highlight it. Then it instantly checks. Something is hinky.

Old transaction logs should automatically get deleted after full backups. They were not and getting piled up filling drive space. Delete old logs and watch.

This is what it should look like:
